I want to do this

Trailer idea5.jpg

And I have this

Do I need to fab a plate for the bottom for it sit on?
Should I put a plate across the back and bolt that to the side of the trailer?
Inquiring minds want to know.

The one in the top picture is definitely different from the one in the bottom picture. It looks like the one in the bottom picture just gets bolted to the side of the trailer through the holes in the side pieces.

The one in the trailer pic is like a big stamped-out metal shoe that the can sits down in. It's got a high side that is the inside and likely bolted throwugh the tub and/or frame.

If the metal framework was very sturdy, you could run bolts through the framework and then through the tub, like the first case. However, the frame looks so narrow this could significantly weaken the framework I'd argue for beefing it up with something that would also deflect rocks, etc, so maybe some metal plating in order to suit where it neds to be mounted
