Get the slim 8 or 10 inch sub and put it in the back quarter panel in the cargo area. I had one in my old scion tv as was more than pleased with it. Boxes are easy to build. Make sure you seal it with paint though.

Looking online I am tempted to get one of those all in one slim sub I can put under the front seat but reviews are mixed. I have a cargo basket so that area is kinda tight. Also being the LX there isn't a metal frame inside the panel to mount the amp or anything.
Although i do have a bit of space between the rear passenger second row seat and where I usually have the fridge, so a slim box should fit. If I get a slim box how do I secure it so it doesn't bounce around?
The only thing is where to mount the amp? Can I mount a small amp on the inside of the plastic panel itself? Would that be safe or secure enough?
Curious about the power output of that head unit? I may consider trashing the factory amp myself if my current Alpine can drive things on its own.
As for subwoofer in the center console, I thought that was where the LX factory woofer was? Maybe the PO extracted yours? If so, the wiring should be in place.
Many just leave the front tweets disconnected, but there are a couple of threads around where people have subbed various speakers for them.

The HU suppose to have 50wx4, the factory amp is really small and read some where it is only 45 watts. As far as center woofer goes it is still there but not active.
At this point I am not interested keeping anything factory stereo parts. Saw a pioneer slim sub/box for only 100 shipped and amp is only 50 bucks. I have most of the wiring thanks to my constant power to rear for the fridge project, just need to figure out the mount. Yeah the speakers are great but definitely missing the low end. The front speakers are weak but should be fine driven the the HU inline withy eh pioneer 5.25......I think.
Either way definitely bypass the factory amp! The speakers sounds so much cleaner!
