Hello everyone, This is my first post. We just bought a 99 with rear air, and rear locking diff. Thanks to all of You guys, I new what to look for. It has 62,000 and runs great. The owner only had one key, the one with the remote built in. Is there a place other than the dealer to get an extra one. They want $250.00 for the key and $80 to $160 to program it. I called 6 different dealers in my area all pretty much the same. Any info would be great. Thanks, John McHorney

You can get new OEM remote keys on Ebay for about $85 and most of the sellers send instructions with them for programming it. It's an uncut key and any locksmith can cut it for you. Programming is merely a matter of using your old key and doing so many gas pedal & brake pedal stomps, inserting the new key, and finishing the pedal sequence. There should be numerous posts on how to do it in the archives.

Congrat's on the new LC!

Cruiser Dan can also get you a separate Camry-style key and remote combo that is cheaper and more durable than the all-in-one.

Don't pay for programming it is a easy DIY. No tools just a "simon says" series of steps.

How do i conact cruiser dan?

Getting to cruiserdan...

He will probably need the FCC and Denso #s from the back of your remote. I talked to him about doing this and he was pretty sure the Camry remotes would work but you may be the first to try because I was able to fix my all-in-ones.

He can hook you up with a new battery for the old remote for a buck or so. I usually make a list of everything I need before I PM so I can support those who support MUD. :)

- oil filters- air filters - cabin filters - oil drain gaskets
- windshield wiper blades
- That little pocket thing for the center console
- Toyota touch-up paint for rock chips

Also don't lose that key. Losing the only master key will require a computer change (or memory flash).

I second this...did the same: Camry key ($30 or close I remember) and self programmed it per instructions on 'MUD.

Do yourself a favor, order one from Cruiser Dan. I order one of those Rocket keys, and now have a spare that only works in the rear hatch. The factory keys are just a little wider (0.032") and work better. And do a search for the programming directions, they are on here somewhere, and in the factory manual if you've bought a set. (and you thought the key was expensive!)

And welcome to the Forum
