6800 mah?!?!

gotta keep size and weight in mind.

And yeah Lipo! 2s or 3s, 800 to 2000 mah is fine

love my lipos..... but only after i got smart with them and got a ESC to handle them and that was censored so i didn't kill them. Once that was sorted out i LOVE EM!

these are my cheapie RC's how do i know if i can use a lipo
both of these will kill my 7.2 volt nicd 1200mAH and 1500mAH in about 10 mins.
not very fun cruisin around the yard for only 10 mins

I don't know how to tell with those, but i would venture to guess it's a no. One if not both of this will happen: 1. burn up you motor or esc because it can't handle the juice or 2. ruin or explode the lipo battery by overdischarging or overheating it.

If you have a wall charger that came with them head to a hobby shop and pick up a cheap venom 1500 mAh pack that will be compatible with the charger (take the charger w you) If you wanna put a little money in it and get a little longer run time you can get 3600 mAh batteries with a better charger and get better (not black and white difference but noticable) run times

You cant change the speedo in those as they are toy (throw away once broken) cars. But if you get into hobby grade cars your batt and charger will spill over into the new car

2c batt would be compatitble with the car but prob wont fit in batt bay. 3c lipo at 11.1v would fry the speedo in a few mins.

thanks for more info

i am not looking for anymore speed .i just want the battery to last longer.
more drive time around the yard. :grinpimp:

 Jake

Unfortunatly the battery you have linked is a Nimh so you would need a new charger for that, would be very long run times though.
Lipos you can get them hardcased to fit the cars you have,BUT they are 7.4 volts 2S packs instead of 7.2 volts in the Nicd or Nimh. You can get a small add on alarm for the lipo that plugs into the balance led on the battery, these batteries have 2 sets of wires running out of them now, this will monitor it and when the voltage gets low it beeps/buzzes and warns you to stop running.

Gens ace 4000mah 2S1P 7.4V 25C hard case Lipo battery ROAR Racing Approved Batteries

You can find these at the local Rc shops,RCpitstop in Langley,SNhobbies in New West or GH hobbies here in Richmond,I think they run between $40-$45each,you will need a new charger if you decide to use lipos or Nimh.

A real popular site for very cheap lipos, chargers and general hobby stuff is www.Hobbycity.comI believe the site above,HobbyPartz is the US location of Hobbycity, shipping from them I recall was under $10 at one time to Canada.

i only use hyperion lipos. but for you just go to your local hobby store and buy the biggest mah nimh battery you can find. get a charger like a mrc super brain or get a really good charger that will charger every kind of battery and start looking at axial kits. an scx10 would be an awesome upgrade.

on a side note: pbgbottle can you get your hands on another landcruiser like the yellow one you have? i have been looking for that body for a long time.

thanks for all the info guys i am starting to learn alot . i guess i better just get my but over to the
RC shop the plan in the future is to get a new chassis for the yellow one. are you suggesting this one
may work well scx10

yOHda

i know of three other people with these i will ask around one yellow two red and a Sea Foam green colored one.

I would suggest the axial as a chassis to bolt that too, ride it as low as possible and depending on weight you may need to up the springs a bit.

I would HIGHLY suggest AGAINST the Super Brain that is purple, the newer black one with the seperate ac adapter is the way to go, I use a couple chargers I like the duratrax ICE, but it doesnt charge DC.

I roll a tlt axled, reign k2-3s chassis, rc4wd series 2 (i think) trans with lockout (older style), w hand wound 55t integy motor, mamba maxx speedo, BEC bypass, Near waterproof robot servo (hitec), FJ40 bodied truck with all steel (erichtech ready to bolt on) beadlocks on pro-line maxx mashers, have a 5000mAh LiPo, thing runs forever on it too. Also running tamiya on road shocks so i can put it in 1.9 scale or 2.2 class, runs competative in both classes even though its restricted articulation for 1.9 class.

i am using a triton eq for my charging needs. it will charge nimh, lipo, nicd, and liFe(i think its called). its been a great charger.

i like the scx10 platform. it performs really well out of the box and the steel rails are great to build off of. i have used them for quite a few builds. your fj40 body would be great body to start with.

my hilux truggy based on a scx10.
