I just emailed Toyota asking them to bring us the new 70 series here(US).

DEEP POCKETS, PATIENCE & CONNECTIONS will overcome most obstacles.

You can bring in a brand new VDJ-7x into the US. Its actually not that hard.
What's hard is getting it licensed and insured.

The Land Cruiser Heritage Museum in Salt Lake has some GRJ-79 30th anniversary 70 series Land Cruisers with 6km on the odometer (amongst many others, seriously, the place is Cruiser Nirvana).

The GRJ-79's have the same engine and transmission as my Tacoma does. Trouble is, these trucks cannot be licensed and properly insured to be legally driven on the street as they don't pass safety standards in the US (haven't been crash tested by nhtsb, etc). They can only be purchased and imported for show and display.

Which still requires a bunch of paper from more than one federal agency to make even that happen. They cannot be moved from the facility listed on the documents without written permission to do so.

If was easy, I wouldn't be spending a chunk of my retirement on a 25 year old 70 Series.
