i have hood falling off frame issues

ok so the frame that supports the hood is detaching itself, so whats the best way to re-attach it? cant weld it as i dont want to have to repaint it.

other than that i have been repainting the old girl and will have pics to share of her shiny new paint job soon...

Picture? I have spare parts since I went gas shock conversion and may be able to give you replacement parts but I don't think you're asking for those.

You're throwing us off with the local terminology. In the US, the hood covers the engine and, generaly speaking, we have no idea what a bonnet is, although having spent a miserable year working with shoddy English Landrovers, I can sense the confusion. So what is coming apart on you, the roof?

I would think that the ribbing under the hood has become detached from the exterior part of the hood. The ribbing is attached with some sort of epoxy type material and after 20 years has begun to separate. I have seen it on quite a few of the hoods I've looked at.

If this is the case, your might try to re-epoxy it. That would probably be the best non-welding solution. Adhesives have come a long way in 20 years.

sorry about the local terminoligy but yep im talking about the hood, as you can see below the frame has detached from the sheet metal. so you think epoxy is the way to go? a friend of mine suggested that after stuck down, i could fill the spaces between the frame and hood with expanding foam. sound good or bad?

I personally would not do the expanding foam. Number 1 it is expanding so it could actually cause your hood to re-separate and can even bend the metal. Number 2 it is a rust creator even the closed cell foam will still hold some water causing rust.

The epoxy should be a good way to go. Now I am not sure which epoxy would work the best but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will suggest one.

Mine looks the same and never had a problem with it- I say leave it alone- if it bugs you that much get a hood insulater to cover it up.

Ignore it..
