This Newbie/Lurker asks for forgiveness ahead of time, but here goes. My '96 TLC runs smoothly off-road and on smooth highway, but small bumps cause a shudder/jitter to travel through the body and steering wheel. I recently replaced my shocks and am wondering if I did something wrong, or is this a sign of another problem in the drive train or suspension. Any options or directions to information would be appreciated. I tried a search but did not come upon the right search phrase to find anything so far. Thanks.

if it is getting to the steering wheel...did you swap out the stabilizer when you did the shocks? Everything tight?

I did not replace the steering stabilizer at the same time. I also feel the shudder through the floor. I was going to jack it up tonight and start wiggling things, but I wasn't sure what to look for, or if it would tell me anything at all.

whoa, through the floor? What shocks did you put on?

Double-check all of your shock mounts. Sounds like it might be that one or more is not tight, most likely the pin-style end (upper).

I could not get a torque wrench on those pin-style connectors, so I will definitly recheck them. Thanks for the advise. The shocks are Bilstein from the local Autozone.

You don't need a torque wrench. If they are rubber bushings, compress them until they are approximately the same diameter as the washers. If they are poly, I tighten them until they bulge a bit.

I knew there were things I couldn't learn out of the Toyotal Manual. Thanks
