I Can Make My Tranny Slip!

Since I got the LX (117K) there had been two times where the tranny slipped when taking off from a start. Kinds like a small hickup.

I found out today by accident while teaching my son to drive that:

If you come to a stop VERY QUICKLY, then touch the gas to take back off, the thing will rev and a second or so later....CHIRP....away the truck goes.

I repeated this successfully 5 more times. I also tried slowing FAST to about 25 then hitting the gas and it's fine. It's only when I take it to a full stop.

All other times, normal driving and stopping, 4-wheeling up hills....it's perfect.

Ideas?

In the older domestic trannies if they were low in fluid, sloshing fluid when stopped would cause this kind of thing... not sure about landy transmissions though...

Like Landy said check your fluid. When my Tacoma with the a340 was low it would do this.

Just a guess: could be that you're catching it as it downshifts to first. Probably not a good thing to do repeatedly.

My 93 used to do that, basically it downshifted when doing a quick stop-start at parking lot speeds, I didn't think it was slipping, just downshifting.

Like Landy said check your fluid. When my Tacoma with the a340 was low it would do this.

I just had all the fluids done by Toy when I bought the thing 2K ago. I have no leaks so why check the fluid?

WRONG!

When HOT it was BELOW the COOL line. ERRR!

I just put in 1.25 qts and it's fine. ERRR!

Nope, too hot, no A/C which I'm going to work on that day. The run sounds awesome, but I don't particularly like crowds which is the downside of very cool runs- they attract a lot of attention.
