Hello all! I have been wanting to get a 70 series Land Cruiser ever since I was in high school and I just recently was able to have an HZJ77 delivered from Japan. I love the vehicle and it has certainly exceeded my expectations in the short time I have owned it. I am making minor improvements and upgrades to the vehicle and am now planning the suspension lift, wheels and tires. My tires are worn and I need to replace them. I was hoping to go ahead and put 33’s on with some new steelies. My leaf springs seem to be in good shape and I was curious if I would be able to get anti-version shackles to lift the vehicle and use the OEM leaf springs. I would go ahead and change my struts also while I am down there. Not sure if anyone has experience with this or insight into it being a good or bad idea? Thanks in advance!

When lifting a leaf sprung vehicle with longer shackles there's two things you need to keep in mind:
1. The ride height will increase approximately half as much as the shackle length. For a 2" lift you need 4" longer shackles.
2. The caster angle will get out of spec. You might have to fix it by putting wedges between the axle and leaf pack.

dont eff around with shackles

buy the spring kit and be done with it....the pins/bushings on each end of each spring are toast by this point anyway

Thanks for the info! I knew it couldn’t be as straight forward as it seemed.

I ended out going with the OME suspension kit through an ARB outfitting company here in Asheville, NC. Unfortunately, the rear springs I received do not fit. They gave me the SC006R which I believe are the rear springs for the hzj75. They are trying to find the proper spring now and are having some trouble getting a part number. I wanted to reach out to you guys to see if anyone had a part number for the springs that go with the 77? Thanks in advance!

Odd Iron Off Road in Thomasville, Ga. is an ARB dealer if they can help.
