Hzj75 gearbox whine / replacement (1 Viewer)

Hey guys

I have a Hzj75 that has a distinct whine noise in every gear but fourth. The gears shift like butter and none of the gears slip but just has a really annoying whine.

I called a transmissions shop and from what I explained he said it will need a full reco and as a ballpark price would cost me $5500 (AUD).

Just trying to figure out what gearbox it comes with stock (after research still not too sure) and weather. I could get a way with just replacing the input shaft bearings.

pretty sure you can get a new gear box for almost half that....

Yup saw a r151f from Toyota for 2.8k. Just not sure if they fit and what the process to fit is like.

It will be a h55f. Don't really want to go down the route of swapping a different box in. I will say however that the shop that quoted 5.5k is ripping you blind. I would shop around for a better price, or call terrain tamer and organise them to do it. Will cost in shipping but they have all the good quality parts and have been doing boxes for years.
