good advice- thanks roscoe. I think I will start with a fan clutch and go from there. if that doesn't fix it, I will go ahead and just get the radiator I have rodded out and cleaned. then maybe my factory heat gauge will be good enough. I did find a radiator cap though.About $400AUD from memory. Toyota charge us ridiculous amounts for landcruiser parts. So the local shops get Malay and Taiwanese factories to reproduce exact copies. I also had a top quality starter made in Malaysia and I used a Taiwanese rebuilt kit.
I think $250 is a good deal for your radiator to be checked and cleaned. You will get a few more years out of it and it will give you time to build up your knowledge of parts and where to get them at the best price.
Ive been using these on my last 2 landcuisers. They take about 10 minutes to fit and they are super reliable. I used double sided tape to fit it instead of drilling holes. There is a sweet spot under the dash where it fits nicely

anyway, I think when I was looking it up it would fit a Toyota forerunner too. it has the # 60 on it just like my old one and looked just like it. my old one didn't look bad to me though. back in the old days, sometimes you could replace the cap and no more overheating. maybe I will get lucky. wonder how often that happens? thanks a lot rosco. oh, and I had to go thru drive-thru to cash a check while ago and I don't think that girl has ever seen anything like that! almost got too close to the building on the passenger side. kind of hard to keep this thing centered sometimes. get up in the mountains I will do just fine though.
