Hello everyone,

I’m hoping to get some advice or insight on a question related to my 1994 HZJ73, which is equipped with a 24v system. I recently upgraded my valve body with a heavy-duty one from Wholesale Transmissions, and as part of the upgrade, I received new solenoids for No. 1, No. 2, and the torque converter.

However, I noticed a significant size difference when comparing the new solenoids to my original ones. Are shift solenoids for 12v systems different from those used in 24v systems? Could this size difference be due to the voltage requirements, or is it just a design change specific to the supplied solenoids?

I'd greatly appreciate any input from anyone with experience with this or who knows if there are technical differences between 12v and 24v shift solenoids.

*Additionally, PartSouq has these PNs listed.
- 8542036030- No.3
- 8542036020- No.2
- 8542036010- No.1

*PNs for supplied "new" solenoids
-8-97202072-0 (x2)
-8-97202073-0 (x1)

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Zack
