Hey mud buddies, new poster to the forum. Potentially closing the deal on my first LC! I have 24 hours to wire the money.

Maintenance is said to be up to date.

Just looking for some advice on this listing. Is it a good price? Anything you guys see? What kind of budget should I set aside for future maintenance/preventative. I am in the Houston area, so a reliable, cheap (haha) diesel mechanic recommendation may be needed too.

I have more pics to supply of undercarriage if needed, but it looks okay to me and the typical rust spots (rear barn door, front window inside, wheel wells etc) are clean. I am reading around with previous posts about the automatic A442F may need an "extreme valve body" and "aux trans cooler". Any idea on that? Not sure if these are super crucial based on my needs (not towing or hauling heavy). I would be doing some light highway driving (4 hours max once a month or so), some light city driving, and maybe the occasional adventure.

Before you wire anyone any money, have you figured out all the logistics and costs to get the cruiser imported to the US?

Doesn't sound like it has been titled in the US. That should be done or verified BY YOUR DMV there are no obstacles before you buy.

I can't express enough that you should go look at it before sending money. Who put the 24 HR timeline. That should have NO BEARING on your decision to buy. That only benefits the seller. No value to you. There are plenty out there for the patient buyer

Agreed...unless I have a trusted source that either knows the seller or goes to look at a rig for me I always go and see the vehicle in person.

It is titled and in virginia by a dealership Japanese Cars LLC. Have you checked the link I posted? I also was explained to about all the dings and issues with the car.

There is no replacement for you personally putting your eyes on it!

Pictures are ALWAYS taken to the sellers benefit.

Update: Does not seem to have the locking diffs rotary switch. Just the electronic hub button. Asked for price reduction, so maybe I can get ARB lockers or some other variant.

@ibbi the only thing I can say is that price is pretty low for a HZJ73. Considering it is being sold by an importer, I expect they have priced it accordingly based upon the condition. A clean, rust free HZJ73 with the claimed mileage should sell for more than the asking price.

agreed. That price is low for an importer. Considering import costs are usually in the $3500-$5k range, then their profit makes me think the condition isn’t as it seems

look in person for sure.
