1971 FJ40 sold 13BT and swapped in an new HZ with turbo and intercooler. Amazing power up grade.
Engine fit in awesome without relocating mini truck power steering box. Actually bolted into same rear mount holes for the previous H55f and trans tunnel shift hole.
Had to move radiator and narrowed rad bracket to passenger side.
Used HZJ 79 front frame mounts and modded to fit frame.
Needed to use a HJ 60 fan and shorter fan clutch.
Got some Tom Woods double cardan driveshafts for front and rear.
A hdt air cleaner was installed, a little tight but fit.

hood scoop for intercooler is functional? or will be once you cut it out?

Good effort. Thats one of the nice things about the 1HZ, its almost identical in size and weight to a F petrol engine which makes it easy to fit to any landcruiser.

Sorry if I missed this, but what bellhousing are you running to mate a 1HZ to the H55F?

Just the standard 1HZ bellhousing out of a 7* series

So I should sell the 13BT sitting on the shelf for my FJ40 and upgrade? Really nice job.
You mentioned double cardon joints, I can imagine. How long is that rear drive shaft?

13BT is a lot better on fuel and will produce plenty of power with the right turbo.
