Love the Patton quote I'm distantly related

I have the front axle out and have had knuckles and housing cleaned, found some issues with axle shafts and order some Longfields, This week I'll take out the rear and pull both diffs. I'm going to regear but I'm lost in the quagmire of data of 4.56 vrs 4.88 some many opinions (I'm now lost)

Yeah, I'm still looking at gears. I'm going to probably run 35s so I'm think 4:88 but like you said, soooo many opinions on what to do. If you figure anything out let us know.

Anybody know of a company that has transfer case doublers for the fj60 box?

I went with the 4.88 sierra ring and pinions from Cruiseroutfitters in SLC, also decided on a ARB locker for the rear.. its only VISA.

I went with a t-case doubler i the 60 to get gearing. I always felt uncompfortable grinding down the two ring gear teeth to fit the cross pin in with the 4:88's. I did it on my 55 and had no troubles but it still made me nervous.
Although the smaller teeth in the 4:88 set suggest a weaker gear I'm not sure which would fail first, the ring gear or the pinion

Who has the best hy-steer for a fj60 and rear axle shafts. Im doing bobby longs in the front and i think poly performance in the rear. Who has the best gears for a 5.29 ratio for these trucks. I just ordered the spring over kit from ruff stuff with shackle reversal. Anyone have any pics of this kit installed or process of one so i can see shackle reversal process and such. Thanks Also anyone know who i can get new centers for wheels from because ive got some h1 beadlocks which is 8 lug and was just goin to cut the center out, i think i have heard of some guys talking about this but not sure so i figuire i would ask you guys first. or who has a good spacer for that.

Advance adapters has a doubler that uses np 203 components. It's a pretty cheap way to go.

This is the set up I'm going to use -> 350tbi>700r4>203doubler>splitcase

Marlin makes a doubler adapter H41>Mini case>splitcase (all Toyota)

I chose the 203 adapter because I was going V8 anyways, so I got my Toy to GM adapter and a doubler with one piece.

To you spring over fans.
before you weld the knuckles back on check this thread

Anyone have the part number for the advance adapter conversion? What the marling crawler type, I guess the advance adapter would be cheaper? Im not rotating the knuckles on this one as it will probably only be on the trail. Dan @ Ruff Stuff it really isn't necessary on the 60 axles because they already have 10 degress build in unlike the 40 axles.

Can you still use the advance adapter conversion with all toyota parts, minus the 203 parts?

What is the ford part number for the front shock mounts? I know they are probably ranger shock mounts but what year?

Why would you grind your ring gear and not the spider gear shaft? There are already reliefs on the shaft to keep oil between it and the spider gears, all you have to do is extend it down the length of the shaft where there is virtually no load anyway. 4.56 gears need a little, 4.88s need a lot, and anything lower will require loads of grinding. Probably should look for an axle upgrade at that point.

Because grinding the ring gear does not impact the case hardened spider gear shaft..

I have never seen a ring gear fail becasue of a small amount of grinding.
But cross pins do fail.
