So one of my 2017s has the dreaded servo issues. So when starting ac or heat Isn’t on takes minutes to turn on and defaults to 75 degrees.

I found the tsb and the repair campaign but unfortunately I never got the mailing regarding this as my wife had been ignoring it for months. Now my truck is 7 years 4 months old. Campaign only good for 7 years. Asked Toyota and was told to pound sand. I get it with a 7 year old vehicle.

So I have found some videos of the repair (in other languages. Figure the quote of 3k from the dealer is worth me trying to see if I can pull it off.

Figure I can pull The dash and all but if I get into all the ac lines and cool box I get a bit nervous. I can pull dash and label connectors but am trying to get a sense of how much ac stuff actually has to come out.

Seems all the servos have potential to grenade so am debating how many to replace if I do it.

Anyone tackle this before? Am I wasting time and should just tell my wife to deal with no heat or ac for awhile. I drove it and it annoyed the piss out of me.

I have the tsb which shows all the repair stuff but it is not totally clear.

Thanks for any insight.

Have done it on a Outback but not on 200. For servos I did not have to mess with disconnecting any ac or coolant lines. I'll be surprised if 200 requires that.

Whatever you do keep wife happy!

From my read of the TSB, it first calls for reprogramming the HVAC system, with no disassembly. If that doesn’t work, the next step is to test individual servos to see if any have failed. Only if a motor has failed is there any disassembly. IMHO, The dealer should have done the reprogramming and tested servos for only a few hours labor at most and then advised you on the findings. It’s entirely possible you can do a HVAC servo reset yourself using Techstream. Here is one of several threads on that.

I have a launch code reader that lets me get down some of the tech stream hole. I had one servo showing a reading different than any other.
First time I pulled codes there were several but they went away and one persisted.
The dealer says they flashed it and tried but to no avail. But I also notified them of the tsb and they Didn’t seem pleased with that and am not certain how much they really did as the bill s really vague except the estimate of something silly like $2897.95

I am away dropping my youngest at college so don’t have everything readily available.

Thinking when I get home will run it a bit and try to pull codes again and attempt to replace anything that does it again

Did you ever make any progrerss on this B1443 code? I have the same.

I ordered the servos and parts to do this for the code given following the tsb guidance.

Planned to take the dash out when I had a block of time to work on it.

Then my wife finds that the issue went away. I haven’t tried pulling codes etc because it has been working. So will look again in the spring but winter had been pretty cold and all my time off has been frigid and I don’t have a heated garage.

I haven’t played with the launch reader much yet that others here in the forum are now using but I did reset these codes with it but not clear that is the fix.

Tried to clear might as well as 'reset' the dampers via my Autel. No success. Taking it to Toyota to have the TSB applied for the 2016-17 software update. Once that fails I'll bit the bullet and order the parts the TSB says are required for repair.

Toyota quoted $2200 to replace the servos in question. Looks like it is a disadvantage to have a chill/cool box when it comes to certain servo failures.
