Hey I usually stay on the cruiser side of the site but thought you guys may be able to help. I am doing a disk brake conversion on my 40 using mini truck parts. First question is: Are the asco hubs stronger or weaker than the aisin hubs? Second: Are the solid axle hubs and the IFS hubs interchangeable? Third: while I was disassembling my asco hubs the engagement gear came off of the toothed washer. The toothed washer has a spring wrapped around it and looks like it has to stay attached to help pull the gear back out of the hub to disengage the hub. I can't get this to stay on now how does this work? Fourth: I am also missing the large spring from one of the hubs can you get replacements? Thanks for you help in advance. Tom

Asin/asco hubs are the strongest ones.. they are the same.. Search, i forget where but their is a Hub Rebuild Page somewhere.. IFS Hubs are 27 spline and wont work.. but i think the Hub Body is the same..

solid axle and ifs hub bodys are slightly differnt you can tell if you look at the back of them

27spl vs 30spl

this is a whole other thing the hub boddy it self is inset deeper on the ifs hub real hard to decribe when your not looking at a pic. if you were to compare the two hub boddy you can see it clearley not sure it it would realy matter thow

Agree with Nat based on reading threads on other boards. People have tried it and it doesn't work. I'll be SASing a 4runner in a few weeks and I'll compare, solid axle to IFS. The clutches are def. dif, 27 vs 30 spline.
