How tough to replace rear rotors and pads?

Vehicle is a '99 LC, it's my sister's. I replaced the front rotors, pads, etc probably 8 months ago, how the rear brakes are pulsating and rear rotors appear (and according to the dealer) are warped badly, pads almost gone, etc. The warping (or non-uniform deposits or whatever you want to call it) does pulsate the brakes, similar, although not as bad, as what the front brakes did. I suspect this is fairly normal, I know Christo told me the rear rotors are much more likely to warp than the front, and the fronts mostly went bad because of the extreme rust, so replacing the rears now sounds about right.

I did not pull a rear tire off the vehicle last time I was out there, so didn't get a chance to look at the rear brakes. How tough are the rear brakes to do? Since it's a semi-float axle there is no hub to deal with right? I'm having trouble picturing it, since the only rear disc vehicle I've seen was an 80 with the rear hub.

So if it's not hard at all I'll do a writeup and have my sister actually do the work herself. The front was a pain, but I know the rears are alot simpler.

What ya'll think? Any diagrams of the layout of the rear brakes?

Thanks,
Mark

it's really easy to do. you just pull the tire off. pull the caliper off. may need to get the discs turned. put new pads on, DONE!

Cool, that's what I was hoping to hear. It'll be getting new rotors/discs anyway. I suspect the rear rotors look atleast similar to what her front ones did, which was not pretty:

Vehicle is in Ohio with LOTS of salt, and previous owner apparently would only drive this vehicle on snowy days...so it'd cake up with salt then sit in the garage for months...nice.

Thanks for the info...

Mark,

You the guy that replaced the starter contacts on a 100 asking about a rotor? :-) This is a piece of cake compared to the starter contacts! :-) hehehe.

Yeah, but that was me doing the starter contacts. If the rear brakes would be easy enough I'd be tempted to try to walk my sister through it over the phone (can't really take a trip to see her right now). The only thing I'm worried about is how tight the calipers would be, everytime I've pulled those off anything they are TIGHT, like yanking hard on the end of a 18" breaker bar tight.

Thanks.. :)
Mark
