I am experience some rattles in both the driver side and front passenger doors of my 06 100series. I think that the door panels may be loose. I wanted to try tightening them to see if that helps.

How could I tighten them and what tools would I need?

Thanks.

I don't recall seeing any way to tighten the door panels...at least not with the stock plastic clips that hold them in place. My guess is you have broken clips or something inside the panel has come loose and is vibrating (like a wire or something similar). If the actual panel is moving, and your clips are good, you could probably try inserting something between the door and panel - weatherstripping tape would probably work well.

for the stock plastic clips, the only tool you should need is a tool to push the button in the middle - I used a chopstick. I don't really recall, but there may be 1-2 phillips screws on there too, but the majority is held on by those clips.

Hey dude
My front door panels also make noise. But mine sound like the piece that leather/plastic cover is attached on it and it looks like plywood is broken
There is thread about how to remove your door panel , it looks like an easy job to do, the only hard part is trying to get the controller for windows out . good luck

Be careful with the control panel. Not too difficult to break the front clip.

Thanks for the replies guys... I think I have actually traced most of the rattling to the sunroof. I have tried to tighten any screws I can see but it still seems to be loose in certain parts. This kinda scars me... do you recommend just taking it in to the dealer?

Also, am I the only one out here disappointed by the little rattles and things that come loose on our hundys?

my hundy has a couple rattles that bug me, but then the overall build quality makes up for it. mine has a slight rattle somewhere near where the dash meets the windshield area, usually when weather is cold. all year though, i've got a rattle that drives me crazy - comes from the trim piece around the overhead garage door opener buttons - I've got like 6 paper wedges in there to help it out, maybe i should just glue it and be done.

yes, watch out on the door switch removal when taking that off. it was the most confusing part of the process, but once you do it you'll know.

I traced my rattle to the door pocket. If you check the inner lip of the door pocket, there is a plastic stiffener attached. In my case, the passenger door, the plastic piece had become loose and vibrated at low speeds or at stop lights when idling. Drove me crazy because the sound travelled and made me think it was the sunroof or the overhead DVD screen.

Worth a look IMHO

I am pretty sure my rattle is the driver side window. Only rattles when rolled down. Had no rattles at 130k miles when I got it. After running a few washboard roads at high speeds the rattle appeared, same rattle I had in my 03 Tundra. Hate the rattle, but hate driving slow more than rattles. If time permits, I may look into what the fix it. Never took the time with the Tundra. Any ideas?
