Has anyone out there replaced the drivers side headlight lens on their LJ78? I smashed mine offroading this weekend. I took a quick peek under the hood and tried to get the lens out, but no luck. The only screws i saw that were accessible were the ones to control the aiming of the beam. I tried to take them out but i cant seem to get the lens to fit thru its hole in the grill. Do i have to take the whole grill off to get it out? Or am i just not trying hard enough....

You will want a LHD aimed and DOT/SAE headlight anyways.
Go down to lordco or Napa and they can probably hook up.

Someone on the board might have exact part numbers for you.
I think the BJ74 and 73's uses hella 9100's.

Cheers,
Nick

Fish,

Yes, you have to take the grill off. It's pretty easy - I did it in the Crappy Tire parking lot. There are a few philips screws and a couple of little plastic clips holding the grill on; these are easy to break, so be careful. Don't force anything. If it's not moving, there's still a screw or clip somewhere holding it on.

If you've smashed the lens, you'll have to replace the whole unit (lens/reflector). Unless you've already replaced the reflector/lens, you are currently running H4 headlamps aimed for travel on the Left-hand side of the road. It's impossible to aim these for North American driving. I just went to Canadian Tire, pulled out the lamp assembly, and went inside and found one the same size. I think it's a standard size. It fits right in, plugs right in. You'll lose the cool blue H4 beam, but at least you'll be legal and safe for oncoming traffic. Once you get the grill off, you'll see how to access the corner lights as well. They won't come off with the grill still on.

Good luck!
