I'm sure most folks know how to swap their drive shaft but just in case some new IFS folks are around here is some help. when your CV Axle has to be replaced.

here is a video showing the high-lights of changing out your front drive shaft (embed thx to BMThiker for the secrete
step by step instructions, tool lists, parts, Toyota bulletins and torque specs can be found at FJ Cruiser drive shaft replacement

And yes most folks, like me, call it a half shaft but all the Toyota docs call it a drive shaft so I'm keeping it consistent.

Prying the axle out of the diff will go easier if you use two pry bars simultaneously at opposite sides (ie, 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock).

Puulboy's cable and slide hammer, or any hammer, method is, by far, the easiest means to extract.

Pops out quickly and the cable is easy to stow for trail repairs.

Thread whore Old Cruiser's implementation of above

bellydoc's version using slide hammer and band clamp

Cable works well, just needs to be tight around the axle, in the notches.

When I did, was on lift (installing LT) and the first axle shot across the shop floor using a sledge. They just pop out.
