I have finally got all my gauges hooked up and have removed the mufler on the 12ht. Ihave been watching the truck so I have a baseline to start with and now I want to start trying more boost. How do I increase boost. I am hoping someone has done it so I can use their info. If you have any pictures that would be even better. I did a search and have read that a few people have gone to 12 psi from the factory 8 psi. Can any one say how theirs has been doing after the boost increaseaqnd to what level they are running at.

i am running 14 pounds of boost on the 13BT and 20,000 km later it was fine. it is now in peices and being sold for parts (nothing to do with the engine)
i am running 12 psi on the 1HZ and it has about 10,000 km on it now andno problems.
on the 13BT i ran a home built adjustable grangier valve...

Hey Mr. Wayne, do you have any idea how much boost would be run if you bought a turbo KIT from say Safari for a 1HZ?

safari turbos are non-adjustable, the build there max boost according to the fuel mixture. you can get them reworked to have an adjustable waste gate but that can be expensive. i have that type on my 1HZ and it maxes at 14 psi.
yep, that looks like it. the parts are available at your local hardware shop and costs about $10 C.
you must have a boost guage in your truck so you can set the boost properly.
once you build one then you realise how much the speed shops make in profit...
cheers

Thanks wayne. I think its off to the parts store to get me some fittins.

What type of spring did you use did you just test different ones or did you get one with a specific spring rate.

i tried a varriety of springs and make sure the one end is adjustable...
i used a T, 2 1/4 barbed ends, one square end plug for adjustments and 1/4" ball bearing.

Not to sure what you mean by an adjustable end. Do you not use the square end plug to put more tension on the spring to increase its opening rate.

I shimmed the waste gate bracket off the turbo housing 1/4 inch and took my 12HT to 11.5 psi from 7psi. I would not under any circumstances go higher than 12psi without any other mods. My EGT temps actually went down after doing this so I suspect that the previous owner turned up the fuel some. It smokes less and runs much better.

What other mods are you ta;lking about waggoneer 5?
