How to D/L a garmin Foretrex

I have a Garmin Foretrex 101 and would like to D/L my stored waypoints.
I have the cable and the sales guy at GPS City said I did not need any special software to d/l the waypoints. I see he was wrong. Can anyone help me out? Thanks
