How to change a '89 FJ62 Transmission from Auto for Manual.

I just recently bought a '89 FJ 62. It has a automatic transmission, but I want to change it to a 5 speed manual transmission. I know I would have to buy whole bunch of parts and a new trans of course. But I wanted to ask if there is anyone that's ever done this or heard of this type of project that could give me some advice on how to go about this. What problems did you encounter in the process, what I can do to make this possible, ect......????

Clutch pedal and bracket from an FJ60, clutch master cyliner, slave cylinder, clutch line, tranny tunnel cover are a few of the things I can think of.


I think the H55F is the same length so you should not ahve to modify your driveshafts. Don't quote me on that though.

IIRC, the NV4500 with the kit from Advance Adapters makes it out to be the same length as well. Pricey conversion to do though, when all is said and done.

Driveshafts would have to be swapped out. FJ60 shafts from late-84 through 87 are a direct swap when going with the H55F.
