How sensitive is the 100 to mixed spare tire size?

Have an issue with one of my new Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires. The sidewall seems to have split, possibly after hitting a pothole last night while headed up to South Lake Tahoe. My spare is the same size, but it's off my last set of 285 duratacs, so it's less diameter and a different tread pattern. Would driving on this spare be detrimental to my drivetrain? I've got 75 miles distance to home, highway 50.

I went to Les Schwab to get their opinion on the sidewall compromise. Said it's deep but not into the threads of the carcass. They will not touch anything, they'll only sell me 4 new tires because of liability of course.

My idea is this since the tire was on front left. Swap it to the rear, drive to Discount in Carson City 25 miles away. Trade in my 4 Falkens under warranty and buy 4 new tires of whatever they have in stock. next week go to Discount and use the 30day trial warranty saying I didn't like them, then get my Falkens back - but 5 of them this time so this doesn't happen again.

Whatcha think?

Ended up getting a replacement tire so I still have a good spare just in case on way home. Ordered 2 new Falkens to install next week, one under warranty and one for a 5th matching spare.

Lesson learned: buy 5 tires so this doesn't happen again

You said those were new? I don't think I'd go to all that trouble to end up with Falkens after that experience. Yikes.

Don't remember the name but is a site on the internet and each tire is measure so it matches you tire

Let m see if I can find the he page,0oh plus they are very competitive

I was gonna pull the trigger on these, glad I didn't. Could have been a one off, defect etc, but still

I completely understand the concern of staying with the tire or not. Not really sure what I'm gonna do, I'll ponder it over the next few days. I really like them, enough to maybe stay with and give them a 2nd chance, just bummed. I got them since they're very new to the market and I did the same with Duratracs. Anything else is going to be a lot more $, pretty much all the other major brand ATs were $50-100 more each tire...I already had the Duratracs and everyone seems to be a BFG fanboy. If I switch brands to something else and get 5 tires I just wasn't expecting to spend an extra $500 on tires right now since I just bought these 8000 miles ago

I think it really had a lot to do with the scenario. I was doing like 50mph following too close behind someone in a sweeping curve to the right, they barely avoided something dark in the road and I didn't. Ended up hitting square on, what turned out to be a tooth breaker pot hole. The sucker was deep, like at least 4-6" from what I saw, I definitely felt it was a biggie compared to other pot holes - like if I was not driving a Cruiser I'd be getting an alignment or more
