How much weight can a fj45 hold

Well, they are rated for a ton, but we know they will hold 20 Libyans.

I have a lot of weight in mine, but I am a little disappointed by the amount of sag in the springs when it is loaded.

I have neve been over a scale with it loaded, so I can't tell you what the weight of the load was. It just seemed from experience with 1/2 tons that it shouldn't have sagged as much as it did.

A lot more than you realistically should haul. I don't consider riding on the bump stops a good thing either. An FJ45 has an FJ40 drivetrain with beefed up springs in the rear and a full floater in some rare cases here in the states. Rigs down in the other Americas often have patches on the frames due to being overloaded.
Carrying a heavy load involves supporting the weight, getting it moving and lastly, slowing down and stopping.

The sag is all about the springs. Sagging thirty plus years old springs doesn't surprise me. I don't know your truck but being in Canada rust could have something to do with the springs wearing out.

From a May 65 parts books

Chassis Weight, bare (kg)..............................1,070 (2,354 lb)
Net Vehicle Weight (kg)..................................1,720 (3,800 lb.)
Gross Vehicle Weight (kg)..............................2,900 (6,400 lb.)
Maximun Payload (kg)...................................1,000 (2,200 lb)
Rear Axle..............................................Semi-floating, hypoid gear drive.

Don't know if they rated the payload more with the full floater rear axle. Also don't know if the rear springs were different between the semi and full floater axle:hhmm:

I was surprised by how much mine sagged w/ a load in it. This is partly due to it being SOA, I think putting the springs on top of the axles, de-rates them a bit. I ended up putting in an add-a-leaf in the rear, I can haul a yard of road-mix, which is about 2500 pounds...that is only for a short distance and not at highway speeds.
