You don't take it to a brush-less car wash? Primitive!

Those are hard to find but i love them for a quick wash without damaging paint with old dirty brushes from local car washes or drive thru washes. I only seen one an hour from me when its cold that's the place to be when nearby instead of a hand wash.

That’s the beauty of having a white vehicle, you can’t see the swirls unless you really look at it at an angle with the right light. A black car id never take it to a brushed car wash

Keep in mind fluid film smells like wet sheep for a week and you want to apply it when fairly warm so it sprays on evenly.

If you've done it before you'll know this, but if not, wear a cheap tyvek suit, gloves and a hat. If you don't you will find people aren't going to want to be in your viscinity for long.

Why not just take it to a coin op spray wash? You know the ones where you drive into the bay and put like $1.50 in and then select what you want? Or do those shut down in CO in the winter? Our still run here in No.NV even when it is 20* out. That's what I would do and then just do a little crawling around underneath to spray everything down.

We don't have that here in Northern VA, i used that when i was in Cali but there's none in my area, local carwash is all we have. I will be crawling underneath it to scrub off what i can.

Ok don't know why I thought you were in CO. Sorry about that.. Is it something that you can hook up a compressor/hose at your office building or anything? Last option would be to take to the car wash and ask them if they believe your rack will interfere with the cleaning?

Looks like he is in DC/VA, but the ones near me shut down when its under 32*.

Fluid Film also thins when you shake it, so as you go continue to give it a few shakes as it thickens in the can.

Growing up in the Midwest the coin-op car washes stayed open no matter the temps and I have memories as a teen of washing my car and driving off, only to then be trapped in the damned thing because the doors froze shut. I had to park in the heated garage and wait until things thawed enough so I could get out.

Got it on the rack today and inspected every square inch of the undercarriage, didn't see any remnants of salt, the carwash undercarriage wash did its job i guess. I coated it with 6 cans of Fluid Film, i laid it on thick, and into every crevices i could see, mostly inside the frame as salt/chemical like to just chill there and wreak havoc from the inside out. This stuff smells like ass and i got it all over the floor of my shop, we gon be sliding around tomorrow lol.

That truck looks like it's never even seen a gravel road. The reason I don't like Fluid Film for a truck is because it will just wash off when you go offroading and pressure wash teh undercarriage. I use Fluid film only on the inside frame members with a spray gun and 360 degree extension wand. Use Amsoil HDMP on all the external parts because that stuff cures to a candle-like consistency in several hours and you'll never be able to pressure wash it off, only comes off with a solvent. It's rated longer than Fluid Film too, I believe a minimum 5-7 years so no need to re-spray it every fall.

We've got twin trucks... Pearl LX470 w/ Gamiviti racks. Nice.

The car wash you drove through forced all the salt deeper into the nooks and crannies of your undercarriage, and the treatments you applied will trap it in there forever. Also, the fluid film will attract dirt and help it turn into sort of an abrasive sludge, causing a bit of extra wear every place something moves.

I live in central NYS, right in the heart of the snow/salt belt. Folks make a mint in this area selling every kind of rust-preventative measure they can think of. Pretty much nothing really works. I try not to drive the cars I care a lot about in salt constantly, but sometimes you just have to. They're just vehicles. Beautiful, wonderful vehicles... but just vehicles. I get way more enjoyment out of driving my LX than I do looking at it, and it's an absolutely phenomenal winter vehicle. My wife's ML500, already well down the rusty road, is our go-to in the winter, but every time I take out the LX I want to KEEP driving it in the winter. Might as well enjoy one of the things it excels at. Enjoy its capabilities to the fullest, or look at it? Me, I'd rather enjoy it and not worry.
