How many official runs JSC would you like to see per year? (4 Viewers)

So just because I'm curious...

There was a bit of discussion in one of the other threads about having more than one "offcial" JSC run. This would be a run that was planned out ahead of time, possibly be a fee for it (though smaller than McGrew probably), and possibly marketed to the other clubs around the area and through TLCA (this would be something down the road, not right away).

Keep in mind you don't have to attend all these, so you can vote for one every week even if you'd only attend McGrew.

This would also not affect McGrew, and yes McGrew would be one of the official runs.

(And yes, you can vote for multiple choices. This was intentional.)

An official run means TLCA sanctioning which cost's the club money. If we're going to have additional runs then they are going to need to be fee runs and a portion of our profit will have to go to TLCA as a requirement of our charter as well as to get our liability insurance. As for non official runs I like as many as possible. The key is that any "official" run we need to involve TLCA in per our CGS agreement.

Lets see how Awesome we handle McGrew this year and then lets see about adding more to our plate my $.02

There is a difference between an official JSC run and an official TLCA run (sponsored/hosted by JSC).

I'm not talking about an official TLCA run as that is obviously much more involved, but merely an official JSC run.

There are many TLCA clubs that have official runs that do not involve TLCA and are not TLCA events. They are obviously not covered by TLCA insurance, but that does not make them unofficial for that club.

If see the difference and do not think it matters. An official run will take time and planning regardless if it is TLCA sanctioned or not. I would like our other official run not to be sanctioned by TLCA personally, but that's a different topic all together. As an example, the local 4wd club (Klamath 4-runners, not toyota related at all) has a monthly meeting every 1st Tuesday, has a monthly club run, and yearly helps with the Jeepers McGrew trip. And they do trail clean-up, etc.

I am in agreement with both of the above comments.

Sanctioned - TLCA sanctioned/supported and open invite for the entire TLCA/Mud/etc groups. I agree we should stick with McGrew and get our feet wet running this and learning the ropes.
Official - JSC organized and run (the sponsor a friend kind of run)

• Christmas tree run
• Mining claim run
• Pre-McGrew run

Impromptue - "Hey guys I'm going camping" "Hey we're going out looking for a tree next saturday" should happen whenever people want to go and get a group together.

Maybe I don't understand what is so incredibly difficult and complex about having an official run. Time and planning? Pick a date. Show up. Have the run. Enjoy yourself. Hopefully get home without breaking things.

How is this any different from our impromptu runs? Aside from the fact that we're talking about planning them out months instead of days in advance, I don't see one iota of difference.

No ones saying we need to start collecting money or printing shirts (though collecting money wouldn't exactly be hard given that these runs are still going to be small and could be collected on site). Start it out simple, and work our way up.

More than a few JSC members have only been on one (or less!) runs, official or otherwise. Given that we've been around quite a while now, that kinda bums me out, and that's the driving force behind this.

That is why I planned that club fishing/camping trip in July, I think that is a planned club run. Even it is not, I guess it don't matter. I don't think that it wouldn't hurt to plan some CLUB only runs in advance. I don't think it takes us all to be in agreement. If you want to plan a run put it on a calendar, make the date give directions and tell us a time. That is all from the guy in the other state.

The impromptu runs are great also but starting to set some dates for runs we know we do is good as well, particularly for those that have to plan ahead and/or are long distance members.
