Hi everyone, I've had my BJ70 for over a year now and am always wondering how many Canadian BJ70's are still around. I've read that there were ~664 sold in Canada, model years 1985-1987. Between rust, accidents, our winters and that they are 30+ year old trucks I am surprised there are so many still around. Post up if you have one, or know of a truck that is no longer with us.

Here's my 1987 w/ 299km. Was restored in 2009ish, though I don't know to what extent, and has been a garage kept summers only rig since.

There are at least three or four in our club (Vancouver Island Cruisers). I see at least 3-4 for sale in BC every year.

Mine had been rolled and written off back in 92 when I got it, I got it fixed and drove it till 2013 when the rot got the better of it. It also died so that others might live.

At the peak I think we had 4 BJ70s in our club (Coastal Cruisers). I'm not sure if we have any now. Sure don't see many of them around here anymore.
I was responsible for bringing a BJ74 in to Canada to replace my 70, so circle of life and all that :hillbilly:

Between rust and rot, accidents, and southern migration there can't be that many left in Canada. And damned few of them would be in decent shape - most of the ones I do see are pretty whipped. :frown:

I've seen 3-4 around Nova Scotia. There's one for sale now as Newbrunny mentioned: 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser Diesel | cars & trucks | Cape Breton | Kijiji

It seems quite a few went to the states, I'm also curious about these ones too. Who's got one in south of the border?

That Cape Breton 70 would sell quickly around here- maybe to me! I'd never pay over 10K for any old Cruiser, regardless of condition, which means they've become out of my price range, unfortunately. I had an '85 for three years, originally from Ontario. Ran like a top, body wasn't bad but frame was toast. Profitt's Cruisers quoted me 20K to restore, so I sold it to another Alaskan about 9 yrs ago. He tried to repair the frame but eventually sold it off too. Who knows, it's probably been parted out by now.

There is one in Grand Forks BC that is in pretty nice shape. The mall queen that I own. It is never driven in the winter after all the restoration that was done on it. It has a red block 13 in it. I just washed and waxed it yesterday, getting it ready for the hibernation.:D

The restoration of yours used to be up on someone's website. Yes, it's Primo!

There were very few sold new to begin with. The number floating around in the back of my head is somewhere around 500 total.

This one is undergoing restoration

My 1987 is still going strong at 500,000 km. Relocated from Canada to USA.

There is one here in Kelowna. Black with aftermarket wheels. The owner was a sales guy at a local dealership. It's had a bunch of rust repair a few years ago but the rust is coming back. I rebuilt the axles and brakes for him 5-6 years ago. I still see it around every now and then.

there are a handful running around Toronto. I have one that I will be parting out because of rust.

I know of 6 in winnipeg

I have a 86 BJ70 in Fort Irwin, California but moving back to Michigan in March. Has about 120,000 km and a littpe rust but overall good condition for a 31 year old truck.
