OK so I'm doin propane on my FJ60 and running fork lift tanks and wondered if most guys useing the 8 gal ones get a full day wheelin or more outa em ... and most 60 guys dont use that type of tank so I came over here to ask

8 gal doesn't sound like much. I can't imagine that lasting a day. Don't know squat about it though, so take it with a grain. :D

I run a 65 liter tank on a 2f and I would always want a tank of gasoline as well I've only had the fj 40 for 5 months and haven't got around to fixing the oddometer yet!!:steer:
as it's quite wet at the mo in NZ I run petrol on the trail as the propane electrics let me down the first time I ran water. This wk end it was flowing across the transmission tunnel:D

Sorry I can't be more help

There is a huge amount petrol cruisers in aus are running LPG (propane) espec with the gov rebate atm and especially the older ones, the minimun tank you will see on a say 60 series will be around 60 ltrs 16 gal the tank will be either where the spare tyre sits under or long ways in the back above a rear wheel arch ,even then when 4x4in on a full day trip you will easilly suck through 60 ltrs well i used to run a 120 ltr tank on the back of my 3f 75 series ute (pickup) and get i think around the 420 km mark but that was always driving hard and 4x4ing and my lpg flow was turned up for max power, but then a mates 68 ltr tank in a 3f 60 series would get him about 400km street

thats the size of the 120 lts lpg tank

but you dont get the high voltage sticker with it ;)

BTW would this post be better in the 60 series threads??

I also dont have much room for tanks :hillbilly:

Is it a duel fuel system or dedicated propane set up? Makes a difference. I'll assume dedicated system and say that 6 gal will most likely run you all day. I can run all day in my 40 on tons with a 396bb most days. I do like to have some sort of reserve though. Recently changed my set-up to run two tanks standing up and that has worked well for me in tems of space management and fuel capacity. Hate carrying more extra weight though...

cool thats what I wanted to know... mines a propane only set up ... I want to cut out my rear floor and lower 2 tanks in the floor some day I'll move to Alum tanks but steels cheaper for now ... and well light wght my Pig is not:hillbilly: but I have 3 or 4 3day events a year so if I can get a day or so outa propane then I only need 3 tanks ... I have a 6 gal boat tank now and it last most day of wheelin so I hope the propane would last about the same

i spose your not really flat foot allday in it then ,and thats the terrain you tackle (as in pics) i should have asked or let you know when i was explaing my km per tank im talking 4x4ing flat out on boggy sand trails and beachs so allways under load if your crawling around rocks etc im sure you willl get alot more k's or mpg out of your tank as such the good thing about lpg is no flooding like the fuel

i think that mtech is running a propane set up in his 40...iirc he said in a thread he gets a day or so off of one tank of fuel.
