How long did it take to find your 100?

I looked for a year while systematically reviewing the ih8mud forum in full , but I kind of enjoy the research process and my other vehicle was working fine so didn't need to scramble. Finally decided on a 2002 with 85k, bought in Nov 2012 for $16,500.

October of last year I started looking and found one on here a month later. After owning this beast for a full year and adding my own style to it I am in love.

About 4-5 months. I set some parameters - filed under "have to have" and "nice to have".
Have to have:
- '06 or '07
- Under 75,000 miles (this was 3 years ago)
- No ACH
- Certified (again, this was 3 years ago)

Nice to have:
- Under 50,000 miles
- Local
- Thunder Cloud or Black

I found a 2006 with 39,000 miles 15 miles from my house. It was a color I'd never seen or heard of - Garnet Pearl Metallic. Figured I'd go see it anyway.

I saw that color. It became my favorite 100 color... and, I drove it home

The punch line: When buying a used car - especially a rare used car, really question your "have to haves". Color is typically the one to go. I don't think there was a bad color on the 100. The longer your "have to have" list, the longer the hunt.

Manhattan,

Truck looks awesome. What size BFGs are those? What size lift?

Thanks

I looked intensively for about 3 months. We ended up buying the first one we went to look at, we just bought it after a month of negotiations and looking at a few others in the meantime.

Price and mileage were our primary considerations. Ended up getting our 2 owner 03 Thundercloud LC with 140k miles for $13,500 this past July. I think we got a pretty good deal, but it needed a brake job right away and will need tires soon. The previous owner had also parked by braille multiple times(front bumper paint was scuffed and flaking) which helped drive the price down and we were planning on putting a bullbar on it anyway.
