Pig let me down (again). After ten or so hours of tank games, new fuel pump, and a new fuel line it still did the same thing. Runs all day long at lower rpm, and kicks the bucket when you need it most.
Kind of depressing. Drove it to work today and almost didn't make it. Then I limped to the parts store, and almost didn't make it. It's really annoying to be in a rig that's as much fun as this 55 is, and have gremlins pissing in your cheerios on your way to work and kicking you in the nuts on the way home.
Bought an electric fuel pump for $65. Too bad I couldn't make it home; dead on the road 200 yards from the parts store. So I rig up the electric pump with some tape and spare wires and limp my dripping soggy cold arse home.
Spent some time in the snow tasting fuel and getting crap in my eyes. Bolted it up, wired it to an acc curcuit, and looped the ground wire to a toggle (figured it would make a nice hidden kill switch).
and..............
She'll do 75 all day long (maybe more; kinda slick around here right now). YAY. Up hill, down hill, donuts, snowbanks, sideways power spins.
I've only driven my pig about three times in 12 months because I just didn't trust it. It's been awhile since I felt comfortable with going on a roadtrip. It's an awesome feeling. If I weren't working eight days a week right now I'd be on the way to Moab.
Best I can figue the fuel pump lobe was worn out or the parts store has been giving me a pump with too short an arm.
