Was starting to feel something in the front end and suspected wheel bearings. Last picture of the race probably confirms but how does my spindle look?

Hard to get a picture but can catch a nail on the ridges on front/back

Not good, holmes.
That spalling in the bearing is definitely a bad sign too. Could just be a bad bearing, but more likely is they arent seating properly.
Get a new one from cruiserparts. He has the joint fuji parts at a good price.

Ouch! No disrespect intended, but neglected. Did you just buy this rig and are baselining it? How does the other side look? If it were mine - on this side, I'd be pricing a spindle as well as a front axle rebuild kit with bearings.

Those races are cooked, Fretted is the technical term, but cooked all the same.

I'd run the spindle. Need all new bearings, races, and seals though.

The inner wheel bearing seal is probably not sealing due to the damaged surface. Lets out grease and lets in contaminates causing premature grease contamination & breakdown. Ignoring the extremely worn heat treated spindle surface on the bearing seats, I'd run it to get me home from a trail or trip repair, but for longevity that spindle needs replaced, IMHO.

That is classic damage from running loose, without preload, bearings and spindle get hammered. Cruiser Outfitters is one stop shopping for the parts needed.

My Rig had 280 k on it when I got it. when I did my baselineing my spindles look like that, Because I had not ordered them with the rest of the axle rebuild kit from Cruiser Outfitters I ran with them. Well I ended up with contamination grease within 3k miles. Had to redo the knuckle rebuild with the new spindles & replace the trashed new bearings. I would replace them for sure. JMHO And yes I had the preload right.
PS My spindles did not look as bad as yours.

Thanks for the input....I have new bearings. A couple months ago I suspected loose preload so I checked it and went with the trail gear lock nuts. The stock setup was loose and i'm not sure for how long but i'm guessing when I tightened them it was too late with damage already caused.

I'll order a new spindle and be done with it
