What are you guys opinion on the aluminum tub and front on how it in general is affecting the value of the FJ40?. Obviously this will fix rust permanently, though you will still have doors out of rusting steel etc., but it is far from original and there is no hiding that. Is it better to repair the steel body than using aluminum in terms of value?

first off if you are building an fj40 for resale you have already lost money. steel bodies will bring more $ on a resales. but depends on what you are looking for. I love my alum. tub but it is a driver and not for sale.

Would assume your talking about the resale value of a replacement alum tub vs replacement Steel tub?

My guess would be it depends on the quality of the fitment and the location. The aluminium being more valuble to those in rust prone areas.

Worth a lot less then a rust free steel tub, worth a lot more then a rusty steel tub. If you repair a factory tub the right way it would be worth more then an alum tub at resale, but if you replace floor parts like me with flat metal, no factory ribs etc I would think the alum tub would have a much better resale value.

I think it all depends on who you're selling the truck to. I just bought a very nice FJ40 that has an Aqualu 3/4 tub. I like the idea since I currently live in a rust belt state. If I lived in say New Mexico I'd probably value the aluminum tub less.
