How do you mount a RTT on a taco

as the title says, I have a 2006 Taco with a shell on it and want to know how to mount a roof top tent. Is the shell strong enough for the tent and two poeple? Pictures would be nice.

You may want to check with the shell manufacturer on the weight capacity of the shell. There are fake gutter mounts that can be used on the shells to attach cross bars.

The next option would be a contractor type rack that sits on the bed rails and goes around and over the shell.

You would also need the horizontal bars.

Some have theirs mounted on a shell, and many others have built a rack of some sort to hold the tent.

I dont own a taco but I drive one for work from time to time..
Personally i would toss the shell and build a aluminum lid that would open to the pass side. I would make it about 12" lower than the height of the cab.
Then you could set your tent on top with a few clams and screws and it (the tent) would sit nice a flush with the rest of the truck .............

I think that's what I would do if I owned a toyo taco... just saying..
