hi want to remove the body off my 91 fj80,to get down to the frame to fab a engine in,/a continental 220 hp.ground-power airplane engine aircooled in place of the inline 6,can't find a in good shape diesel to swap in,so i have a airboat,i am not useing ,and would blow people's minds when the hood is up

Your going to need/want a FSM.

Start removing... :) Starters, there are 10 body mounts... easier to do with all the seats out.

Hang it from a big Willow tree!!

aircooled....I take it this won't be a rockcrawler?

Still rock crawl

I had talked to classic airboats in fl. Where I got the engine from 20 years ago. Wanted to part out the boat to see what all was worth at today's prices. And was told these engines were also used in military tanks. So thinking it could power a tracked vehicle. It would have no problem getting my fj80 on Volvo 303 portals To Walk The Dog. So because it would need a fabed engine to it's automatic mount. Would be easyer to get to body off. Than up and down. And if it does not fit Because of frame fit. Will just go with a chevy 283 used in m114 tracked veh. Water prof. 24v distribertor and wires and plugs.

They are all visible from underneath. The front 2 are hard to get to without removing the radiator, grill, headlights, etc. Otherwise, very easy. A lot easier, i would think, than trying to swap in an aircraft engine.

No need to remove the radiator, grill, headlights, etc. At most you will need to remove the battery box. I just drilled a hole through the bottom of the box big enough to sneak a socket through.

My perfect bodied 97' land cruiser was rear ended by jerk on a cel phone.

I have a "spare parts" land cruiser that I can use the body from but, I need help swapping the bodies.

Where do I start? How many bolts? What do I remove from interior and anything else needed?

I hate to say it, but if you have to ask, you are not ready to do the job.

Here is a brief list, there will be more that I forget to list

Gonna be easier with front clip out of the way
Brake lines to master cylinder
heater hoses to fire wall
AC hoses to firewall
all connections to fire wall
all connections to wire harnesses coming through fire wall
rear heater lines
steering column
throttle cable
emergency brake cable
trans and t-case shifter connections
body to frame ground straps
body mounts (pricey to replace)

Then use a lift if you can

Got a feelin the Continental may not fit with an adequate cooling fan. A mil spec 283 probably has less HP than the original 3fe?
