Im never here on the 120 forum (80 guy) but I thought you all would be interested in this. I'm open to complaints and feedback from a technical or non-technical nature. Also, not trying to spam you here, just wanted to make you aware that it exists.

I took a few photos from a build thread, I tried to comment on the thread for permission but couldn't. If you see your pictures and want them removed please let me know.

Pretty much sums it up. A few things I don't 100% agree with (like, around here the women driving them are in their 50s, not 30s), but otherwise seems about right.

The two pictures with the trailer are mine. You are fine using them.

I see you are from Sandy, UT. Just drove through Sandy, Utah on Sunday of this week on my way back from Canyonlands.

Cool, thanks for the support. around here the 50 year old's drive RX350's. Which district in canyonlands? Hope it was a great trip, would have loved to have seen your rig on the road.

THAT WHITE ONE! Did that start life as a Prado or a GX?

Good write-up, but I do think that aftermarket is much more difficult to do for the GX than the Prado (bumper integration with bodywork, mainly).

Best used SUV out on the market today - very nearly all the goodness of the LC (minus the 14mpg highway numbers) - and almost none of the exclusivity or price premium.

Good Job, we love our GX, thats our video at the end there, here is a link to 1 more you can use if you want

Seth

Thanks! I think the GX is great jumping off point and the timing is just getting right. Love the videos and the rig.

Agreed that most drivers around here are blondes in their 40's and 50's - pains me that every white GX I see has a middle-aged woman driving it. O well.

The aftermarket is very slim (except for suspension) - don't want to mislead people into thinking non-US Prado bits will fit w/o serious/irreversible work (see DanKunz's bumper fitting).

I am not sure I agree about the lower end torque. To me, the 4.7L V8 has great midrange power; but off idle, it doesn't wow me like my '95 80 1FZ-FE did. That thing was like a mad tractor under 2000 rpm; the 4.7L pulls very hard above that rpm. I love the 4.7 as it is silky smooth and does have great power, though.

Not to be nitpicky, but I'd suggest taking a few minutes to proof your article. I thoroughly enjoyed it and agree with most of it, but find reading such things more enjoyable and more credible when there aren't typos. Grammar nazi in me comes out, sorry.

good notes. Truth is, I would love to be a writer but despite my best efforts I still suck at grammar. Honestly, I've put quite a bit of effort into correcting it but its always been a struggle. Just something with the wiring i guess. At any rate, thanks for reading it.

No worries, and I had no intention of offending. It really is a great piece and I've bookmarked it, I'll share it with folks when they ask about the GX.

Hey, we all have our strengths/likes & shortcomings/dislikes (see my post about the damn parking brakes!!!!). I am just grateful you made the time end effort to not just think about the topic, but to put the words down and share with all. It is factually correct, humorous at times, and much appreciated!:beer::beer:

Feel free to use my pics :)

As someone that is looking to buy a GX in the coming months, I found this article great! I learned a couple things I didn't previously know (sealed transmissions, cool!).
