Looking at 2014+ GX and I'm not sure how to visually distinguish the difference between Base/Premium/Luxury. The dealers sometimes mislabel the proper trim levels, so I want to be certain what I'm looking at. What clues should I be looking for? TIA

Base and premium will have the chrome trim on the bottom of the rear side windows and the luxury will have it on the bottom and up the back of it towards the roof.

Base or premium

Mine was advertised as a premium. After looking it over and comparing options after I bought it I found that it is a base model. I should’ve researched the trim levels more, but I’m still happy with it.

Base and premium will have the chrome trim on the bottom of the rear side windows and the luxury will have it on the bottom and up the back of it towards the roof.
Thank you...that helps! Any way to distinguish Base from Premium easily?

On some year models the wheels will give it away. The split spoke wheels were on the premium and the regular six spokes were on the base.
Any interior or button clues between Base and Premium like a heated steering wheel button perhaps?

Not sure if all the premium trim models come with heated seats, but if they do they’ll have the roll dials on each side of the center console where it meets the dash. Also, my base model has darker wood trim instead of the mahogany trim of the premium and luxury.

Another external cue is no fog lights on base '14-'21

'17+ without 3 zone HVAC will definitely be a base... option went away from base after '16. Optional on '14-'16 base models.

If you're looking to purchase a GX and are asking these questions for the sake of getting certain preferred options, I suggest deciding upon what features you want, such as: heated AND cooled seats, "3" climate zones, the ML stereo, DAC and rear air adjust, navigation, etc.
Under the GX 460 Manuals (GX 460 Manuals - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gx-460-manuals.1129713/ ) you will find trim levels per year.
When you know what options you want, just look for the sellers posting those options. Most dealers and even private owners will do their darnedest to list every possible feature available. Note that many of the options are "grouped" together, so you can't get just one feature without several others being packaged together. You're just stuck with everything coupled together in the package if really want the one special option.
Hope this helps answers some of your questions. :meh:

Another useful tool is the Lexus VIN check.

It can be confusing. I would run the vin to make sure you are not paying luxury price for a base. Like stated above on older ones some packages were options. I have a 2016 Base but have heated/cooled seats, 3 zone climate control, navigation and DAC. No ML sound system though.

Good info here.
I’ve spent a couple hours tonight reading into them. Like others on here have said Most used ones online do not have the trim level on the listing. Little facts to look for can help a lot. I’m noticing certain patterns like darker interior not as frequent on white exterior but may just be me and the region I’m buying in.
My dad traded in his 2015 today with around 190k miles and got a new one. He is rough on vehicles IMO driving high miles just basic consumables oil changes, brake pads, tires.

I have been considering a bigger daily driver so thinking the 460 will work great and not hit the pocket book like a 200.

I've seen a few rare option anomalies with 10-13 Premiums without nav/ML but you can be 99% sure you are looking at a 10-13 Premium or '14-'20 Luxury if you see the Mark Levinson tweeters on the second row interior doors. ML is optioned on basically all of them minus a few anomalies on the early years. ML emblem on radio but hard to see in most pictures. 2021 adds ways to add ML to a Premium so rely on the external window trim.

10-13 Premium = '14+ Luxury
