How bad is your gas mileage? (16 Viewers)

Monthly I run to my parent to help out and take my dad fishing. No fishing this trip weather did not work in our favor. Did about 600+ miles round trip got 16.9 with highway speeds averaging about 80+. Usually I get more like 16 even, I had nice tail wind on trip back home. When I tow the boat I get in 9 to 11 range depending on using 6 or 7 as highest gear.

This. Also differences in tread shape and depth from used to new.

Definitely. Although the mileage on my 3rd gen never really varied. I went from 18.5 highway to 17. It was the same over the tire life, though they got a lot noisier over time. I don't think it was weight or contact patch or pressure or aerodynamics playing into the equation... not saying those don't come into play, just that simply the tire material has an outsized impact.

Is that after adjusting by 1.1 for the difference in tires size 35's vs stock?

I have the same setup and get about 12.7 x 1.1 for tire size = 13.97 mpg

Agreed. Even within a given tire model the mileage difference between P-metric and LT-metric can be significant, despite the higher inflation pressures required of the LT, which should in theory increase fuel efficiency.
