Hey there, I am attempting to hook up some driving lights up to the High beam on my Toyota vitz, everything was going great and I am 1 wire away from them working, but the problem is that the High beam wire going to the Head lights is Live so when I hook up the driving lights onto the High beam circuit just behind the Headlights the Driving lights come on when the car isn't even going and the Head lights are turned off, but they go off when I turn the lights on low beam and turn on when I turn the car on high beam like they should, so I am a bit baffled. Anyone out there know if this is normal or if I have done some thing wrong, it was a Drving light wireing kit I bought at an auto shop and I have followed the diagram on the box, it has a switch, a relay etc. and would all be done, but they turn on when the head lights are out and the car is turned off. So if someone has some info on how to fix this it would be greatly apprecited.
Cheers Bradley

Sounds like your relay is a SPDT and your driving light output is connected to the wrong pin.

Remove the wire from the high beam circuit and run a long jumper so you can experiment hooking it straight to the battery. My guess is that your driving lights will go on when it's disconnected and off when connected to 12v. Also, I am guessing that your relay has five pins and one is not used.

I spoke to the sparkey at Work today and he said the the reason the Wires going to the Head lights are live is because they are earth switched, he told me that I had to hook up an earth wire and a live wire from the switch that came with the wireing kit to the Live wire and earth wire on the High beam circuit at the back of the Head lights. I tried this and they didn't go at all so next week I'll get him to hook them up properly, unless someone else has some helpful info.
Cheer's Bradley
