Hi-

Question on Hood Prop's for 1971-84 40 Series:
Why do some have a bend at the eyelet and some do not? Is that just abuse or did the design make a running change at some point. I know the part number is good all the way through 53403-90300.

I ask as I'm reproducing them given how hard it was for me to track down one for my HJ47 build. I want to make it look "correct". Price will be $75. They will include all hardware (grommet nylon washers, pin) powder coated a shiny black.

Guidance on a straight vs. bent eye is appreciated. Based on fitment in my '47 I'm planning to put a 30 degree bend just below the eyelet

I'm sure one of the old timers will be along shortly to explain. My personal observations are my May 79 40 has a straight rod, the 78 hood I have as backup has the bend. I forget the month of manufacture on the 78 40 hood.
So I'm not going crazy that I have a sample of both... Thank you for the feedback. I'll check the date when the hood changes part numbers.
