i all, a couple o weeks ago I decided to refurb my trailer so thought id put a little thread up of my progress so far.

I made this trailer nearly 8 years ago now, the plan was to have a built in tent, bed a proper camping unit, but instead its been abused as a general tip run, removal van, gravel, soil, rubble anything has been thrown in it.

The suspension units are only rated at 500kg and its definitely had nearer a tonne in it on a few occasions.

So my plan is to adapt it slightly to sturdy it up but also make it look nicer and more purposefully built for when we do go camping with it, rather than lugging the "gyppo box" as my wife calls it! around with us.

Plan of attack:
ladder/roof rack type affair on top
fabricate steel wheel arches
strengthen drawbar up
replace suspension units (possibly land rover hubs)
new rear door
replace lights with led's
make a lift up lid
paint
attatch swinging bbq mount from another little trailer I made

So over the last 2 weeks ive made a lot more progress than I thought I would, got it stripped down, took off old wheel arches and and tailgate, knocked out some of the bad dents, welded up a couple of holes and panels back in place. Then last night the painter at my work said he had nothing to do so I set about it with the orbital sander, steam cleaned it all and he etch primed and painted it for me in a tough hammer-finish grey for me.
