any info is welcome thanks all in advance

for three inch's of lift you need a shackle 6"s long. stock is around 3.5-4"'s add 6" you end up with a shackle 10"'s long.

cut your fenders insted

long arm, its like $350 from 4wheelauto (i think thats the site for a fj60)
r u sure u have to double the length doesnt make sense, jack the truck up 3 inchs it goes up 3 inch
why do u have to double it i dont understand????

. . . my head was about to implode reading that.

You, too, huh? What a thread! I'll be watching this one!

I don't want to pass myself off as a suspension expert, but 10" high shackles sound to me like a recipe for disaster.

The reason shackles only give you 1/2 the lift is because your axle is located halfway between the shackle and the fixed spring hanger. Think of a pair of scissors. When you open them, the tip openes a lot farther than the pivot point..

That much shackle lift will make your rig unsafe to drive. Steering caster will be horrible - I don't think the axle could be shimmed enough to correct that. Not to mention pinion angles and shackle angles.

sorry aboot the poor typing i will try harder to make it more understadable (typing and spelling i struggle with) thanks for all your replies i think instead of shackles i will just go with the springs over the axles this summer to get the lift i would like. I just thought extended shackles would be a cheap easy soloution (i was wrong) the last thing i want is an unsafe truck.
thanks for all your replies they have been really helpful

33" but they fit already mabey bigger but that also requires a gear ratio change
i just like the look of raised 4x4 trucks and it is something ive wanted to do now for a while (lift the truck)

33's are easily fit with a 2.5" lift.

Bolt on and very easy to do.

SOA will look silly with 33's
