Hold on to your 100 series, fellas, don't make the same mistake I did.

How tough was getting it all out? I've already started dying the brown sections of the interior to black, and thinking about a new carpet set/dying the carpet black.

It's not bad at all, definitely help to have a 2nd hand to help you pull it out, just pry off all the door sill Lexus logo things and remove all the necessary screws in the rear for the 3rd row seat and the carpet comes out. Don't need to remove center console, you can just slide the carpet out from under it.

Buddy helping me do my carpet, we're going to dye it black. I've always wanted to see what black carpet would look like in a hundy, i dont know if anyone has done it yet, so i'll be the guinea pig.

Perfectly mint carpet too, lol such a shame to mess with it, oh well.

First coat on, planning on doing 3 coats. This is what i'm using, fabric dye, mixed with warm water and that garden bottle spray thing.

Letting it dry a bit, then brush the fabric the other direction and app

I think black will look awesome, maybe one day reupholster the seats black too! Heres a pic from a mud member who did it and I think it looks amazing..

Oh wow that does look very sleek, i dig. Unfortunately my seat bottom just got redone in matching leather and my passenger seat looks like it's never been sat on. It would have to be somewhere down the line where i really have extra money to blow on it. Do they sell black seat covers, or did that upholstery shop did everything from scratch?

Damn, maybe one day, makes me want to sell/trade mine to get ahold of one with a darker interior just to do it. Leather upholstery shop did it from scratch, tried to get him to PM me what shop he did it at since he wasn't too far from me, no luck.

Yeah this is my first cruiser with the gray/black interior, gave me a chance to do the black carpet. My previous 4 cruisers were all tanned interior wise so it didn't match. The dash on the tan interior is also tan, but the dash on the gray interior is black so it somewhat matches. I'm, spending too much time and money on this one, replacing stuff that doesn't need to be replaced out of OCD.

Maaan, you and me both. I've got $1000 worth of parts I bought as preventative maintenance just lying around, I could really use that money for gas nowadays . I tried getting ahold of a White with Gray interior LX before I got my current 06, tan just gets dirty too quick imo, looking forward to seeing how your carpet dye holds, maybe I'll give a shot at changing the seat/carpet colors on mine when the time comes.

Re: headliner- friend of mine does alcantra headliners in his rover re-furbs and does the door cards at the same time. Turns out very nice. (roughly $500 installed for the headliner skinned in alcantra)
According to reviews on Amazon, no, so i hope that's the case. But i have weathertech floor mats anyways and i have no kids, and i don't water cross more than 2 feet deep so i don't see how water could get on it heh. Does look clean though, i'm digging the dark tone of the interior. Might do the headliner too.

As much as I love my 100series I don’t think I’ll be going in the 200 direction for a trail & offroad rig. Capable but Wide-heavy- and now too expensive

I want to drive one of these new Sasquatch Broncos

I was just looking at those on line the other day....report back on how that goat mode works. If only it had a two speed transfer so you could get low range. Then it could be perfect.

Too much reading to dig through. So, do they rub? Do they affect the AHC, shock mode control or anything else for this matter? Ride nice or stiff? Mpg?
cost?
The tires that is…

They rub, you'll need to do a sensor lift and do the pinchweld mod. AHC makes KO2 tolerable

😩
Well, your wheels and tires look nice. I just don’t think I have the patience to go through the motions of all the hoop la to get it done .
Maybe I swap my wheels w my wife’s 570 when she’s not looking! 🤣

There's an old saying among my ricer community, if you don't rub, your setup is weak. I wasn't about to have that on my conscience, if you dont want to rub, get wheels that are +30mm offset. These wheels don't rub, KMC Heist 18x9 ET +30mm, run 275/70/18 and you're good. They are significantly lighter than the ones i'm running now too, they come in at 28 lbs vs 36lbs per wheel that i've got on now.

Well, I had spacers once, with 20,22”? Tundra wheels and Toyo ATs. After a year plus, about 10k miles, I heard a slight popping noise. Took the beast into the shop, and they said axles (boots, wrong angle, etc) due to spacers pushing weight outboard and throwing off ah, hm…damper, or whatever the other angle is called. So, a grand/half later, with new CV axles, and off come the spacers and tundra wheels and back to me OMEs, w simple Michelin LTX 2s, for now. Idk.
It rides very sure footed at 100 plus dodging crazies on I80!

Pretty

Interesting thread since I just bought my 1st 100-series. I love it. The prices in Denver seem to be spread from reasonable to “you got to be kidding me”. But it’s like that for ALL Toyotas here. I sold a ‘94 Xtracab V-6 and used that money plus $1k to pay for my 100. I got a smokin deal.

yeah dude, land cruisers are reasonable compared to Tacoma’s and 4runners. New, land cruiser are almost double the price but when they are 15-20 years old with 180k miles, they are almost identical. I don’t get that type of depreciation AND cruisers are more rare.

Deal or not this blows my mind.

The fact that the tractor from 1994 went for nearly the same price as a luxury vehicle from the 2000’s. Toyota folk are a weird bunch!
Toyota people know exactly what they want. And will pay a premium for it. Not saying the truck was worth what I got for it…I just got what it was worth TO ME.
