HKS turbo timer install

Hey all,

I've been handed a HKS turbo timer type 0 and want to install it in my HZJ75 1995 model.

Has anyone done this or know the know how?

The timer has a three pin plug and HKS recommend you purchase a vehicle specific harness. I can not find a harness to suit and the universal one is just a plug with wires that have bare ends.

Googled, youtubed, asked about... I'll find out soon I hope but if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

I doubt very much you would find a harness. Not very hard to wire up though, IMO they are kinda pointless, get a EGT gauge and shot down once EGT's have dropped off.

I have a greddy TT installed in my HDJ80 not that complicated .. I used the standard harness came with it ..

What it needs it's 12V and grounds ..

What it does .. it keep 12V to your ignition for the set time when you remove the key .. just identify that source in your key cylinder or plug at the steering column and done ..

Well, you guys are right, it doesn't seem that hard. I've found a diagram a guy posted which is to large to attach.

There are three wires coming from the TT;

1. Blue, accessories (Black/Red)
2. Red, +12v (Red)
3. Green, ignition (black)

I'll give it a go and let you know how it works out...

All done guys... All fitted and working a treat.

For the people out there who go through the same process I did to obtain info about the install of a HKS type 0 turbo timer into a 1995 Toyota Land Cruiser;

The three wires from the turbo timer harness (cut off the three pin plug) the colours are as follows;

1. Blue - Accessories connect to the Blue/Red wire
2. Red - +12v connect to the Red/Black wire
3. Green - Ignition connect to the Black/Yellow wire

Under the steering column is two groups of wires;

1. Large diameter wires, single plug harness with the main "White" wire which is the direct power for the battery.
2. small diameter wires, single to double plug harness which is all accessories i.e lights, indicators etc. - not this harness.

Connect the turbo timer to the larger of the wires exiting the key cyclinder under the steering column. I mounted the turbo timer box under the dash to the right of the steering wheel, under the speaker, drivers side.

The handbrake safety wire you will find (Red/White) below, on the floor, under the drivers seat adjustment handle. Connect the Grey wire from the turbo timer to the Red/White wire running up and under the drivers seat - is one of three wires.

And the black wire from the TT is earth, make it a good clean one. I placed it on a bolt under the bonnet release...

Works great.

Re: HKS turbo timer install Thank you Freddy! works for Hilyx Surf LN130 as well. Wires used from timer to ignition:
1. Red --- White/Red +12V battery wire
2. Blue --- Blue/Red activated by ignition key +12V
3. Green --- Black/Red accessory general

Bumping an old thread.. I am trying to install a greddy full auto TT for myself and heard I need a wiring harness to fit into my 1990 Toyota Landcruiser. You mentioned you just used the standard. Do you have any more information on how you accomplished this? Thanks

Also question about HKS as I am considering this as well. So no other wiring harness is required. Just got to modify the one that comes with the TT into the wires you've mentioned?

Yes, no additional connectors used. I opened up the panel below the ignition lock, took out ignition connector with all the wires attached, and carefully strip small pieces from power wires.
Used method "try and see" one by one, connecting back the ignition connector each time. HKS wires were soldered directly to ignition connector with in-line fuses attached. Did the same for my KZJ95 few month back. HKS TT display glued on just below steering wheel.
