Hi guys, nothing to exciting – I’m looking for a supplier of wing mirrors.. I have the classic C shaped metal mirror fixing and I’ve managed to break both plastic hinges. It’s the hinge that screws to the door.

I’m based in Belgium, so I’m looking for a mail order company or a friendly Auzzie who will post me a couple, otherwise I need other mirrors or in the most extreme circumstances have the hinges remade …

Can anyone help ?

Cheers Matt

Happy to help if you need me to buy some from my local Toyota dealer and send them over.

Have you looked on ebay to see if any are available that are aftermarket and cheaper than factory?

If you want me to chase something up, give me some more info and I'll get some prices...

Do you have any photos of what you want?

Were they standard on your year/model troopy?

Can you tell me if it is LHD/RHD, what country it originates from, etc., maybe find it in toyodiy.com?

Thanks a million Simon,

This is the model number
04/1988 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER (HJ75RV-MRQ) STD ARL HT RHD 2H DSL MTM 5F CBU

The part isn’t listed, but it is a true Aussie troopie RHD with 2H Engine….. You can see in the picture, the beer can repair !! I think this is a aftermarket wing mirror, I have seen a few on other troopies but not on any parts lists. Any idea on the maker or model name - would be great help

thanks Matt

They are made by Britax and are fitted mainly to aussie cab chassis 75 ,79 series and Hilux by the dealer to see past the aluminium trays.
I guess you could say they are OEM
They can be bought from any Repco store for $50 each approx(mirror head only)

Britax Automotive Equipment Pty Ltd Australia - Product Catalogue

I think this is the part number of the one you want 1441122

There are similar ones on ebay but they are not as good and you are forever tightening them. The arms are also thinner and vibrate more
Make sure they are Britax;)

Looks like someone chopped the arms down on yours.
This is how they should look
The bottom part of the arm bolts to a Nutsert .

Not sure if I'll be able to find a compatible bracket/mounts for that, as it's not factory.

The part number Rosco supplied, as he said, is for the head only, which you said is OK on your mirrors, and the Britax brackets seem to be different to yours, so are probably not a direct bolt-on replacement.

Repcos sell the metal arm as well but I dont know how much that is. The ones he has now are ones like mine that have been cut down.

I thought he wanted the head,it looks fawked in the pic, must be the reflection.

Looks like it is a reflection off of the frosty windows.

I think that the brackets/hinges where it connects to the door are broken, and they are apparently plastic on his mirror.

I am not sure if the same plastic brackets/hinges are on the Britax brackets, as they look thinner in the Britax bracket photos and maybe metal instead of plastic, but I am not sure.

He would probably only need the brackets, but if not the same as what he has, they might not fit the same bolt holes.

I think american ford pick ups have something like these, might be easier to adapt those

Hi Guys, thanks for the feed back,

The picture was taken on a bloody freezing cold day, its only frost on the mirror !!

Indeed its only the plastic bracket that holds the metal arm to the door.... I'll take a better picture tonight and measurements.

I looked at the Britax site, they seem to be a L shaped bracket and certainly different. These brackets are only screwed on the door, no bolts amazingly...

I do still have the upper holes in the door, (with a tread behind) for what I guess is the standard mirror, maybe I can find a set of these and retire the other mirrors…. I’ve looked a European HJ70’s and they have different mirrors again !!

I have a mate who is into metal casting, I might ask if he can make up 2 hinges, seems rather extreme though as these are bloody plastic.

This is all for the Belgium Road inspection !!!! I’ve found some second hand European approve LC seat belts which I need to ft this weekend, then wire up the fog light & new number plate lights, then we’re ready for the inspection..….

:bang:

Cheers
Matt
