A buddy of mine is looking at this HJ60 and wanted my input on price. Its listed at $27,500 which had me gasping. I put a number in the high teens...may even 20K, but high 20's seems crazy. Maybe I'm off...I know cruisers are starting to sell for crazy $$ lately??

What do you guys think? (there is a description on the right of the images on picassa)

Cheers!

It all depends what your wants and needs are and how much money you have in the world of cruisers these days it seems. Personally I think that is very high. Finding a nice Canadian example off Kijiji would be a better way to go IMOP. Or importing from Aus, etc. but if you don't want to wait and you don't want to import, that's when you're going to pay. I've had my left foot in a diesel 60 for a year or two and that's what I've seen at least. I've seen super clean ones on the west coast at your suggested price. Teens. Heck he could buy one for 10 and put 5 into it and have money left over to shelf parts from Aus or Canada cause that's where the next expense comes in. Hard to find parts...

The diesel might add a few grand over a comparable gasser but still, I'd expect an exceptionally clean and complete truck for $27k, not ripped seats, plywood panels in the back, and a rusty undercarriage.

Agreed. Some Land Cruisers can bring big money, not ALL Land Cruisers bring big money. It may take the seller a while to realize that. Ok, sure, diesels have a certain cache and cool factor, but that is not worth the 3x price tag the seller is asking. With petrol engine, I think the truck is worth $6 to 9K.

Also, having lived with a diesel LR the past 3 years, and spending a lot of time in a buddies HZ80, (mileage aside) I enjoy petrol engines a lot more. Too each his or her own.
