This truck has very few km it was imported in 1979 and was parked in a garage for years! Motor sounds new!
It was painted once and badly repaired rust was not well treated.

Very nice. Did you add the power steering or was that an option there? Are you keeping the 8-foot bed on your hj45 or shortening it too? Nice build.

Thanks, the power steering was added after the car was bought, the HJ45 has a shortened bed too I bought it with the shortened bed will post photo, but at least it's the original bed but someone added a side step which I'm thinking of eliminating.

Looks like French plates. Perhaps LHD windscreen from France during resto. Given he says it's original though, I'm guessing it's one of those odd South African rigs which resulted from their domestic build laws....? I'd love to see the wiring harness for that.

A 6' bed is about as short as I'd want to go. Any shorter and it hardly works as a pickup/Ute/backie.

I agree, although these trucks are not used for loading, now they are used as daily drives, not for hard labour.

I love your HJ collection Victor! Beautiful work!!!

But I'm simiilarly confused (like Subzali & Chamba) by the LHD-windscreen styling with the wiper motor on the right.

I know those South Africans can be an odd bunch :D... But I wonder why they would insist on Toyota mixing in LHD-specific-components just for them.

With the correct LHD versus RHD componentry, the screen gets wiped better for the DRIVER'S vision. But with this "South African mix" the screen is wiped more fully on the passenger's side.

Oh snap! That's a RHD vehicle with wipers for a LHD vehicle...what's the deal there?

Hi it's factory wipers,it's a South African Truck!

Another S.African HJ47,the owner won't sell this he uses it to tow wooden logs, what a pity,it's got 92000km sounds like a gem although it doesn't look like it.
Note the wipers they are not the same as mine????

Hi Victor and congrats for your job on the old S.A. HJ45!
If I am not mistaken, you swapt the H motor for the more recent 2H motor+Power Steering, right?

As it concerns the S.A. pickUps,it seems to me that the bedor rear cargo area, was local made.
Thanks for the pics of Madeira J40s.

Now that is a South African bed with rhd wipers. Looking at your pics on my phone, I thought your plate had an 'F', but now that you say Madeira, I'm guessing that's a 'P'?

I love that 40 with the Bandeirante grille. I guess with the common language with Brazil you must have many people with homes or businesses in Brazil?

Hi,yes that's a S.African bed, with rhd wipers ?...wierd because if you see the photo of the HJ45 back part of the frame you can see the windscreen in the background (just a glimps of the hole where the motor goes) and the window wiper motor is on the same side as my HJ47????

Hi thanks a lot I think I did a good job on the HJ47, the HJ45 should be ready in about 4weeks.The motor on the HJ47 is the original 2H motor,no swap,it's standard.Power steering was added after though!

nice

Hi, I need help,I need a exhaust for my HJ47 except the manifolds, does any one know of a company in Europe that sells this. I'd like it to be in Europe because of transport costs. Its a 2H motor 3980cc 6cylinder diesel.
