Hilux Surf Auto not getting 5th or reverse gear

I have a 1991 surf and was working perfect till last night i topped up transmission fluid, today after 15 miles it would not go into top gear(auto transmission), i pulled over and tried reverse but to no avail,
I am baffled, have it on the lift now,
If it is any relevence i took out the round plug in attached picture but put straight in again ( thought it was a fluid level guage by looking into it)
would like any guidance as i am lost

hi i have done exactly the same thing and i now have no reverse, please help how did you manage to sort it as its got me baffled !!!!!

I don't know what has happened, but I understand the A343F tranny was also used in some 80 series Cruisers in the US.
It's also basicly the same box behind the 1UZFE in a Soarer as well as others.
The Jeep AW4 is the same box internally so may be able to source some info there too.

What was behind the plug? I'm not big on autos, but if there was a spring or valve or something like that back there you may have upset the "adjustment" of something if the plug was screwed in more or less further than where it started at.
