HIH and the friends I've made there are the only reasons I keep my 100. I'm more of a solid axle guy but this group is unbeatable as is the event. So I did what every reasonable person does when they don't love a vehicle. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on armor, suspension, and lighting.

Cuz it's an investment. :flipoff2:

I mean, who doesn't love 235hp and 4 speed autos?

Listen here, ya pansies. You made the right choice and anyone that matters, understands. I’ll be out there with the new wife slumming it in a 200 if anyone wants to meet up and compare air conditioned seats...oh,wait. 😎

After a day of emails and a two-hour phone call tonight, we've come to the realization that we need to push HIHX out until 2022.

It really comes down to the restrictions. Colorado is still under the "6 feet of separation" order. The cleaning requirements alone make it nearly impossible for us to manage. If this was HIH6 it would be easier to figure out a way to cut the numbers and just stay apart, but HIHX represents 10 years of something that we (all of us) have created. We want that to be the celebration it should be. Anything less than that doesn't feel right.

Wednesday night at Wyman under the string lights and mountains and stars... Not possible
Friday night pot luck with tables and tables of some of the most amazing food from around the world.. Not possible
Saturday Night BBQ assembled by a handful of super close friends that help us pull that off each year.. and served by two dummies. Not possible.
The best raffle ever hosted by any event ever... Not possible.

What are we without that? It most definitely isn't right for a celebration grown on 10 years of high fives, hugs, belly laughs and just generally being around cool people. Imagine seeing friends that you only get to see once each year and staying a Land Cruiser's length away from them. That's doesn't sound fun at all. Colorado isn't going anywhere, we'll try again next year.
You guys have built something unique with HIH. It's worth waiting for.
Trails are fun. But trails with friends are funner. After trail beer is good. But after trail beer with friends is gooder.

Totally understood. This just gives all of us another year to build up and prepare for the wall at Poughkeepsie. :)

There may be a little bit of truth in this...

For 2020, we were taking a mostly stock 99 LX470 to HIHX, with no intention of trying "the wall".

For 2021, we were thinking the same.

Last weekend, my son discovered what happens when you "cross axles" on a pre-ATRAC 100 series, that has a LSD instead of a rear locker (one wheel from each axle in the air, and you get stuck). Something about "dad, we need lockers!" warms my heart.

By 2022, we may be in "the relatively stock looking LX470, with at least one aftermarket locker", and if put in a group with a "bad influence", we might be talked into doing something stupid, like trying this.

We'll be there Tuesday to Saturday. I'm at the Wyman.

Mon 7/26 - Mon 8/2 (in a small Hotel)

Anybody know if it's possible to camp/park at Silverton Mtn Lodge that week?
There are plenty of spots right around there that are not part of lodge property. The gravel areas by the Animas are ok.

so, when is everyone arriving in silverton? :grinpimp:
Tuesday - Saturday for me. Then me and @aaronrules are headed to Moab for a week! Ive got a score to settle with the Staircase on Golden Spike😬

I didn’t add any gear, but I did add a second Hundy to the stable last year.
My daughter has grown quite fond of the first one.

Did we ever get a head count, of hard headed folks, that are going to be in Silverton for the second HIH that isn’t?

~6 weeks away, and we’re a little excited, and a little panicked…
